Our Ministries

There are so many ways to get involved at Cherry Grove United Methodist - from outstanding music to an effective youth ministry - you're sure to find a place to be involved!

Music Ministries  Music and worship are integrally interwoven, and music plays a vital role in Cherry Grove's worship experiences. If you have a desire to share your musical gifts in worship, there are many opportunities, including the Depth of Mercy praise band,  Chancel Choir, Gospel Choir, Handbells and Children's Tree House Choir. Please contact Jack Gibbs, Director of Music, for more information about how you can get involved in the music ministries at CGUMC!

Parable Puppets  This puppet team lends it's unique talents in sharing God's Word through skits on Sunday mornings and at various fellowship events.  If you have a knack for theater, this is the place for you!

Prayer Ministries
There are two unique opportunities to participate in a weekly prayer ministry, lifting up joys and concerns in prayer. The first is to participate in a Prayer & Share group that meets weekly at CGUMC; what a wonderful way to connect with others in a prayerful environment of fellowship. The other is to participate in a prayer chain to lift up prayers and concerns of others. Contact the church office for more information.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry   The members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry share their love, time, and talent to create soft, warm shawls for people in need of comfort and healing.  Prayers for healing are knitted or crocheted into each shawl. Those who don't knit can help out by purchasing yarn, adding fringe to completed shawls, and making the presentation cards. Knitting and crocheting are easy once you catch on. If you don't know how, we will enjoy showing you how. If you know of someone who would appreciate a shawl or would like to join the ministry, please email Marge Roberts at prayershawl@cherrygrove-umc.com for more information.  See Knitting a Shawl for instructions and patterns.

United Methodist Youth Fellowship  Today's culture tries to define what is significant for a teenager, but young Christians who define themselves by loving God have a firm foundation and know their true significance! Cherry Grove UMYF is one key element youth can use to open the door to a world of opportunities without being "of the world." Our teen youth group for grades 6-12 meets twice a month.  UMYF allows youth to grow in their faith walk through worship, service, fellowship, and study. Email youth coordinators Mike and Marilyn Estep or call 474.0362 for more information about the youth programs at Cherry Grove. Be sure to visit our Youth page!

Family Life Ministries Family Life is a part of the connection ministries of Cherry Grove. By bringing our families together, we grow in our faith and strength.  Family Life often works alongside other ministries.  We've teamed up with UMYF for church-wide activities such as the Drive-In Diner and Sock Hop.  An annual church picnic, a Summer Celebration Carnival for our neighbors, and a family game night are just a few activities held throughout the year. Hanging of the Greens kicks off the Advent Season as we decorate our church home for Christmas and breakfast is served following the Easter Sunrise service.  Whether you are a family of one or of many, we welcome you to our church family and invite you to participate in the Cherry Grove Family Life events.

United Methodist Women - UMW "Circle" are communities of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Gertrude Laing Circle meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Parlor, Room 201.

There are countless ways to be "helping hands and feet for Jesus."  These opportunities help others, help the church, and help you to make Cherry Grove UMC your church home through participation.  We are each called to use our gifts for God's work. Usher, greeter, liturgist, Sunday School or Children's Church teacher, soundboard operator, visitor to shut-ins, trustees workday helper - regardless of your gifts, there is a way for all of us to be the hands and feet of Christ.
