Churches4Change Youth Groups raise funds feed children in Price Hill
A special Good Friday worship service was held at Union Township’s Veteran’s Park, kicking off a 24-hour Carry the Cross event being held by Youth Groups from four area United Methodist churches: Cherry Grove, Clough, Mt. Moriah and Summerside.
Pastors Kurt King, Jonathan Kollman, Randy Lowe and Blossom Matthews recently formed "Churches4Change: A 4-Church Lenten Journey," with the purpose of uniting the efforts of its congregations during the Lenten season. Through Churches4Change the Pastors have created a powerful dynamic of sharing. Their efforts were aimed at assisting Elberon United Methodist Church of Price Hill by raising funds for their Bibles and Breakfast ministry, which purchases Bibles for the Price Hill area children and feeds breakfast to nearly 100 children and families each week.
The Youth Groups of the four United Methodist Churches united to "Carry the Cross" for 24 hours beginning with the Good Friday service on April 2, 2010. Each youth group carried the cross for six hours at their church. Emphasis for this event included symbolically carrying the cross as Jesus did when he took the road of suffering to Calvary. Matthew 16:24 states, "Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up the cross and follow me." The second part raised awareness about the needs and suffering in our Cincinnati community. Each participating youth got sponsorships within the congregations and community to help support Elberon’s Bibles and Breakfast ministry.
The IMPACT group recently visited the Krohn's Conservatory and had dinner at Buca Dipeppo's Italian eatery. Thing really heated up when the family portions were served up. Wow! What a night!
